The NaNoWriMo forums are getting busier, things are hotting up and for the last four weeks I have been attempting to pull together all the different strands of ideas that have been cluttering up my mind. I think it was Bob Dylan who said something about not combing your hair because it tangled up your brain. My brain is quite messed up as it is! I now have three very different plot outlines, and yet each overlaps with the others. Most confusing, and also impossible to untangle.
Anyway, I have been collecting random phrases for some time and today, while listening to ELO I jotted down a couple of phrases: ‘Is this the way life’s meant to be’ and ‘Someone left their life behind in a plastic bag’. and I know what I am going to do for November!
I now have over 50 plot bunnies merrily hopping around in my NaNo folder, and most of them are very short ones. So. Fifty short stories? of a thousand words each? It might end up thirty slightly longer stories, but a lot depends on what happens when I start writing. A random selection of genres as well, encompassing humour, angst, revenge, horror, westerns and fairy tales.
I have a title as well, but I will keep that to myself until it is all finished. Who knows, I might just win through after all!
