I have taken all my UFO stories down from ffnet as well, for various reasons. They are up here or on the Herald for anyone who wishes to read them, and, to be honest, the number of readers on the Herald exceeds even the number I get for the rare Thunderbirds stories that I occasionally write. (and Thunderbirds is a very active fandom)
So although I was initially very sad to delete the very first stories that I wrote, as I carried on deleting them it actually felt quite good. I write canon stories mostly. ( Yes, Missing Persons was not canon, neither was Glitch in the Machine!) and I realised that ffnet was probably not the place to post my stories any more. UFO is a dead fandom. There are not that many UFO readers or writers on ffnet and I get enough visitors here and on the Herald. One day, maybe, the series will have a revival ( even if the proposed film is rubbish) and then who knows what will happen?
And the title of this post? 'Anal'ysis? yes I freely admit it. I am anal now about trying to write canon. It is HARD. It would be so easy to dash off a story where the characters acted 'out-of-character' but I wont.
I love the series too much.
I respect the actors too much.
(And writing canon is, to me, a real test of a writer's skill.)
